Invoke an internal or external threat – yes. Internal threat eg Dr Vickremabahu, external threat – yes, myself
Establish secret prisons – yes, Done. Boosa and many others
Develop a paramilitary force of hoodlums . yes. Done
Surveil ordinary citizens. Yes. Done that.
Infiltrate citizen groups . yes. Done.
Arbitrarily detain and release citizens. Yes. Done that .J.S Tiaasinayagam
Target key individuals. Yes Done. Frederica jansz.
Restrict the Press. Yes . Done – and even more – murder them – Lasantha Wickrematungs, Taraki, and many more (see my up-coming article on the Sunday leader.
Equate Questioning (what the regime is doing) as Treason and dissent as terrorism. Call me (a Sinhalese) a Tamil Tiger terrorist because I do not fly the lion flag and call the Rajapaksas what they are – thugs.
Subvert the rule of law. Yes done that. The stoning of the Mannar magistrates cour and the current attempted murder of the sec of the JSC.
Yes it is all there. Calling me a mother…g traitor will not solve the problem. They can call me what they want in any language they choose at any time of the day or night (which they do with monotonous regularity). I could not care less.
Yesterday it was the Tamil civilians in the N&E. Tomorrow it will be the Sinhalese – that has already started.
Keep going – Mussolini did, Hitler did, Stalin did, Gadaffi did, Idi Amin did. Tyrants down the ages have done these same things. They have come and gone. The Rajapaksa’s are not an exception. The question is how much damage they will do to Sri Lanka before they are tossed out.
THIS is the time to take a stand – both in Sri Lanka and in countries outside Sri Lanka such as the one I live in – Australia – flooded with refugees and asylum seekers fleeing the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka which is neither democratic or Socialist- but a fascist Dictatorship.
